NUMBER OF MEN EMPLOYED. The total numbex of men employed along the line of lode, Broken Hill, N.S.vV., at the end of March was 7>liy4, of which 3,351 were underground and 3,843 on the surface. There were also aoout 150 working on outside shows in. the district, making the total 7,344, compared with 6,996 at the end of JDecember last. The men are distributed over the various mines as follows:— Central 1290 Proprietary _. 1158 South 1172 North 870 British 532 Block 10 440 Junction North 439 Soutli Blocks - 324 Block 14 134 Junction „__ .« <~ 14 South Extended 28 Pinnacles — 18 Zinc Corporation .. 400 Amalgamated Zinc — 350 Murex Process ~~ 25 At the end of December last the Proprietary had only 718 men employed.
