In Holland

82,000 VOTES FOR SOCIALISM. Troelstva, interviewed by Jean Ijoiiguet, said that the position -of Socialism in "Holland has never been'so good as to-day. In 189T the Socialists polled 13,000 votes, which increased in 1901 to 39,0U0, and m 1905 to 60,000. At the last elections" iii 1909 the vote rose to 82,000, and this in spite _of the fact that the suffrage is not universal. It does not commence till the age or 25, and is subject to all sorts of conditions, so that .out of the 1,375/Juu (male) citizens who arc over 25 only 854,000 have the vote. It is, of course, exclusively members of the working class who are thus deprived of the suffrage. There are seven Socialist deputies in the Chamber, which consists of 100 members in all.
