CHRISTCHURCH, March 31.

x At a meeting of the committee of the New Zealand. Boxing Council correspondence was received from the Hawke's Bay Association in reply to a communication from the council requesting the association to inquire further into the circumstances surrounding tie RuddBlackmore contest. The association's reply Avas to the effect that the committee had given the case the fullest and most careful consideration, and adhered to its previous decision that Rudd should be disqualified for a period _ of three months. It was decided 'that the association should be asked to inquire into a statement alleged to have been publicly uttered before the contest that the match had been " fixed." for Blackmore to win on a foul. The council decided that under the competition rules the kidney -blow was illegal. The. secretary was instructed to bring the decision before the affiliated associations and to advise promoting bodies that referees must disqualify any competitor using the blow. Three matters arising out of the recent mail vote on a question discussed at the conference of representatives of local associations held at .Palmerstoh in July last were dealt Avith. The chairman pointed out that an error had occurred in announcing the result of the voting on the question as to whether or not professionals in other branches of sport should be allowed to compete as amateur boxers. The voting had resulted in a tie, and the announcement submitted to local associations Jiad stated that another vote on the subject would be required. This, however, was incorrect. The question dealt with a constitutional rule, and in preparing the return of the voting the fact was overlooked that a constitutional rule could not be altered or added to unless three-fifths of all the local associations were in favour of the proposed alteration or addition. In con~

sequence of this, the proposal- pa *lt»r the rule was lost and, -another T»to ttm . not required. The other two' matters dealt witfc referred to hand bandages: and ootu-ting out. The voting oh these "matters tram indecisive. With regard to haad H-d-" ages, the council decidedto propose to local associations that ho bandage* should be allowed in amateur bo_.te, except for recent injury, and them only with the approval of a medical examiner; \ that bandages should be permitted im professional that the council Avould submit to each local association, a sample of the material to be used, and the method to be adopted in fixing-, the bandage. With regard to counting out, it was decided that it should be optional with promoting bodies either to leave counting out to the referee or to appoint a special official for the duty.-
