WHAT IS CHRISTIANITY?
Dear "Worker," —Your correspondent W. F. Hewlett asks a question nearly everyone has asked since the foundation of the world. He asks for a, proof of what cannot be proven, any more than a, proposition in Euclid —without certain axioms to start with. If W. F. Hewlett can have only a little faith to start with he will find it perfectly easy to accept Christianity "on tTie evidences/ which are many and strong. He hints that lie does not know what Christianity is. If that is so, let him refer to Christ's own explanation of His creed, given in the New Testament (Matt. v.). Another book which he might read is Charles Gore's "The Creed of a Christian." I wonder has W. F. Howlett ever talked to a Christian clergyman on this matter ? I have never, to my knowledge, met one who was unable to give a very good and conclusive account of Christianity and of why he was a Christian.—l am, etc., D. E. CITRRIE.
