Waihi Miners' Union.

THE QUESTION OF REGISTRATION.

WAIHI, February 13

A ballot in connection with the question of cancellation of the Waihi Miners' Union registration under the Conciliation and Arbitration Act was concluded on Saturday night. lhe following was the result: —In favour of cancellation, 647 ; against cancellation 285; majority in favour of cancellation- 362. The actual result is ill doubt until the matter has been decided* by the Registrar, a majority of members of the Union being required to carry the proposition. The total number of members of the Union to December 31st. 1910, was 1350. It these figures hold good cancellation has been lost by 29 votes. It appears that members have to be twelve months in arrears before being struck off the roll. Hence it would appear that all names on the roll must be considered as members of the Union ; but if the number of financial members only is taken as the basis of computation in the matter, then cancellation has been carried.—Exchange.
