Socialistic Snippings.
All the opposition to Socialism comes from good people who do not understand it, and from bad people who know that it will overthrow their Avickedness. ***** It is said that under Socialism men will not work as hard as they do now. Certainly not, they won't have to. They will not be compelled to support millions of idle human parasites who produce nothing and devour everything. » » * * * The basic principle of Socialism is that the people shall rule through the referendum. If this is a menace to good government then popular or selfgovernment is a failure. • » * * * When a certain amount of labour shall become the unit of value instead of a piece of yelloAV metal in the interpretation of Avealth, labour Avill be on the high road toAvards receiving the full product of its efforts. • « * * * Each day brings new eAddence of the necessity for political organisation if the people are to be considered anything more than mere plodders, " heAA-ers of wood and drawers of water." ***** When Unionism becomes Socialism there'll be a strike every time we have an election; a strike at the ballot box, Avhere it Avill count for something. • «••*• Capitalism in a single month has, through criminal negligence in providing proper safety appliances in the operation of the machinery of production and distribution, caused greater loss of life and limb than anarchy has in fifty years. ***** The anarchy of wealth is a thousand times wickeder than the anarchy of poverty; and both are the children of the system of private ownership and its concomitants, greed and gain. • » * * * Socialism is simply fighting the battles of capitalism in its effort to crush human rights. • » * * * Socialism is not a religious creed, but it is a moral creed so far as applied to equitable and economic production and distribution. ■**«•** The Socialist party is the only organised body that is opposing the encroachments of predatory wealth upon the rights of humanity.
