LAWRENCE. MONDAY, NOVEMBER 14. (Before H. J. Dixon, Esq, S.M.). Unlawfully on Licensed Premises Four young men charged with being found on licensed premises at Beaumont without lawful excuse, were each fined 20/- and 10/- costs. Traffic Offences Stanley Boyes and George Richard Leng were each charged with driving at excessive speed. Constable Parkhill said he overheard defendants agreeing to race from Colonsay Street into Ross Place and Leng cut both corners at a highly dangerous speed. Leng, the only defendant to appear was severely reprimanded by the Magistrate who said both boys were lucky not to be appearing on a more sereious charge. He woidd take into account Leng’s present position and adding that the amounts did not indicate the seriousness of the offence. Boyes was fined 30s, costs 10s, Leng 10s and 10s. Mining Applications Edmond Gordon Malcolm Foord —Application for the surrender of claim.—Granted. British Developments.— Application for refund of security on three prospecting licences. — Granted. Harliwich. —Application for special dredging clam part of Clutha river commencing below Millers Flat bridge, running down river 2| miles terminating opposite Section 86, Block 11, Benger area, 109ae. lr.—Adjourned for survey. N. J. Harliwich —Special dredging claim 538 acres, Crown Lands part of Clutha River commencing opposite Section 88, Block 11, Benger Survey District, including extended alluvial claim held and leased by Jackson and Garlick, and terminating 10 chains above Beaumont Bridge.—Adjourned for survey.
