CHRISTIAN ENDEAVOUR
The Christian Endeavour Society held it's monthly Consecration meeting on November 1, Rev. Mr Jordan presiding. Following a number of choruses and hymns a prayer was offered by Mr Jordan. A duet ‘Shepherd of Israel’" was rendered by Misses Cathie Bennetts and Daphne Wood. Mr Eric Stevenson took the Bible reading from 2 Cor. 5:12-21. The subject which Mr Jordan chose was: “If any man be in Christ he is a new creation.” It 1 was pointed out that' our whole outlook on life changes, if we yield our lives to Christ. Our deeds and actions are no longer a form of selfishness; nor tare they done that they may be rewarded by the praise of the world: our whole desire is, that whatever we do may be done to the glory of the name of our Saviour, and that we may help our fellows as much as is in our power. A Christian’s acts are not measured by size, nor by number; but by the thought tand spirit which prompted the deed. Such deeds are only counted worthy, if they have been done for Christ’s sake. ‘‘Do not wait until some deed of greatness you may do, Do not wait to shed your light afar; In the simple paths of duty, to your Lord, be true: Brighten the corner where you are. ” The coming of Christ into the heart gives life a new meaining and a new purpose. Our thoughts are directed upward, and onward. When we open our hearts to this new way of living, we can pray this prayer of a little African girl: “0 Thou Great Chief, light Thou a candle in my heart, that I may see what is therein, and sweep the rubbish from Thy dwelling place.” After chain prayer, and further chorus singing, Mr Jordan closed \ a happy time of fellowship by pronouncing; the Benediction.
