LOCAL AND GENERAL

Comparative Rainfalls. Comparative rainfalls for the month of Septembeer were:—Lawrence, 158 points on 13 days; Milton 200 points on 12 days; Tapanui, 351 points on 11 days; Balclutha, 106 points on 12 days; Clinton, 124 points on 12 days; Roxburgh, 59 points on 8 days; Roxburgh East, 46 points on 7 days; Raes Junction, 167 points on 9 days; Dunedin, 120 points on 10 days. Inter-School Sports. Sixteen records were broken and eight were equalled at the Inter D.H. School secondary and Inter-Sub-Association primary sports at Roxburgh on Saturday. Since many of the previous records could stand comparison with corresponding records elsewhere, this was no mean feat. In the secondary section, Gardner (Alexandra) broke Herb. Edie’s (Laurence) 1933 record in the broad jump by doing 20ft 7in. but was unable to heat Edie’s hop, step and jump record of 41ft bin, the best jump for the day being 41ft Gardner also broke the high jump record with sft 2fin. (previous record sft lin.).
