BOROUGH OF ROXBURGH PROPOSED SPECIAL TAR SEALING LOAN OP £550. PUBLIC NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN in terns of Sections 9 and 10 of “The Local Bodies Lo-ans Act, 1926,” that the Roxburgh Borough Council proposes to raise a special loan for the purpose of Tar-sealing the Council’s portion of the Main Highway in Roxburgh. The sum to be borrowed is £oso at a rate of interest not exceeding £3 10s per centum per annum. The Loan shall be for a term of Ten (10) years, and the proposed security for this Loan and to provide Interest and Sinking Fund shall be an Annual recurring Rate of Three pence farthing (3|d) in the Pound (£) on the Annual value of all Rateable property within the Borough of Roxburgh. The provision for the re-pay-ments of the Loan will be by way of a sinking fund of Eight pounds Ten shillings (£8 10s) per centum per annum during the currency of the Loan.
No portion of the Interest or the Sinking fund of the whole Loan will be paid out of the Loan. And further Notice is Hereby Given pursuant to Section 3 of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1926,” that a Poll of Ratepayers will be taken on the above proposal on THURSDAY, the 17th day of NOVEMBER, 1938, betweeen the hours of 9 a.m. and 7 pun. at the Town Hall, ROXBURGH. EMPLOYMENT TAXATION On the Ist November, an instalment of the Registration Levy will become payable by all male persons twenty years of age and over, other than those entitled to exemption. The third instalment of the Employment Charge of 8d in the £ on income other than salary or wages derived during the year ended 31st March, 1938, also falls due on the same date. A penalty of 10 per cent will be incurred on any instalment notpaid within one month of the due date. An employer who employs for more than seven days a person who is in arrears with the Registration Levy is liable, on summary conviction, to a fine of £2O. Further information, including details of the classes of persons who are exempt from the Registration Levy and the Employment Charge may be obtained from any Money Order Office, or from the Commissioner, Employment Tax Division, Land and Income Tax Department, Wellington, C. 1. LAND-TAX PAYABLE By Order in Council, made and issued by His Excellency the Gov-ernor-General in Council on the 19th day of October, 1938, under the authority of the above Act, it was determined that the duty by way of land-tax leviable under the said Act should be paid in one sum on Monday, the 7th day of November, 1938, at the office of the Commissioner of Taxes, Government Buildings, Wellington, C. 1; and, in accordance with such Order in Council, I hereby give notice that the said duty will be payable accordingly. Additional tax wil accrue if the, tax is not paid on or before 28th November, 1938. The liability to pay is not suspended by any objection. The tax should be paid on or before the prescribed date, otherwise the additional percentage accrues; any overpayment will be adjusted by refund. The demands will be posted from the office of the Commissioner of Taxes on or about 31st October, 1938.
