W.D.F.U.

BEAUMONT BRANCH The monthly meeting of the Beaumont branch of the W.D.F.U. was held on the 14th Sept., Mrs Dimmock being in the chair. The motto for the day was ‘’Life Without) friendship is like a sky without sun.” and the roil cad, suggestions for improving .the flower show schedule.

A parcel of goods made by disabled soldiers was displayed, the majority of these meeting with a quick sale. A demonstration on bandaging was then given by Mesdames Brook and Peak, this prov ng very instructive. Mrs Cci

moved a vote of thanks. T:.t hostesses were Mrs Irvine and Miss Collins. The branch held its Bth birthday party on the 9th inst., visitors from Lawrence, Evans Hat, Millers Flat and Ettrick being present, the hall looking gay w th decorations and paper hats. Songs were rendered by Mrs Smell e an 1 Mr Robson. A number of game? were played these being interspersed with dances. A short play concluded the programme, the participants being Messrs Child (2), Dwyer (2). Jones and Brook, Misses Johnston, Jones and Hollamby (2). After supper the birthday cak? was piped in by Mr Beccard. tr. : candles being lit by Mr Stuart (Farmers’ Union, Lawrence) and blown out by Mrs Robson, Evans Flat, the cake being cut by Mrs Tonkin (Executive, Ettr'ck). Mrs W. Stuart then presented the prizes for the games. Dancing concluded a very enjoyable evening.
