Mining Notes.
Hie Clutlia riVor keeps at a low level. The cold weather and l'rost on the hills has prevented the snow from melting, and as yet there have been no spring floods, which usually rise the river a few feet during the September gales.
The Ettrick Gold Dredging Co.'.s last week's return was 68oz of gold, and so far as one can judge, the lead of gold is likely to continue. The Roxburgh Gold S.D. Co. have not yet come on to better ground, but the dredge is now working where a rich lead of gold is supposed to be, and better results are looked for daily. The Golden Treasure Dreding Cr. declared a shilling dividend during the week, and the Golden Gate Dredging Co. also declared a similar dividend.
The Golden Run Dredging Co., Ltd., lias been granted six months'protection for their dredging claim, and it is said that arrangements are being made with that company's dredge to work a part of the Otago Dredging Co.'s claim near the Millers Flat punt. The Roxburgh Amalgamated Co. washed up No. 2 lift yesterday, and the handsome return of 920z was realised for the usual term of working.
There has been quite a brisk demand locally for Ettrick Dredging Co.'s shares during the week, caused doubtless by the splendid returns of last week. One parcel of 650 contributing shares, the property of ;l gentleman who intends returning t > the Old Country, were disposed of by Mr Burton at 15s and l(Jg. The Upper Waipori Alluvial Gold Dredging Company .(Limited) obtained from No I dredge 14oz 4dwt. of gold, and from No. 2 dredge 10oz 15dwt of gold for last week's dredging
'1 lie Jutland Fiat (Waipori) Go'd Mining Company (Limited) obtained 370z sdwt for 144 hours' wages time —133 hours actual dredging—last week.
