A NEW DEFROSTING PROCESS.
[From the Evkning Stab's Cobhespoxuent WELLINGTON, August 19. A satisfactory test of the process invented by Mr Walter Feck for thawing frozen meat was made this morning in the presence of the members of the .Stock Committee of the House, as well as of other legislators and gentlemen interested in the new process. For the purposes of the test a quarter of beef and a sheep which were frozen about three months ago were thawed at Waitara on Monday and were brought to Wellington in the ordinary luggage van attached to yesterday's express train. This morning the meat was hung up in the Gear Company's shop along with a number of other carcasses, and the inspecting members were requested to pick out the thawed meat from that newly killed. This the legislators present practically failed to do. The beef was then cut up, and showed no sign of " weeping," which is usual in frozen meal thawed by the ordinary process. The company were unanimous in their praises of Mr Peck's process, and the inventor nag warmly congratulated on having found a method of thawing that promises to overcome one of the main drawbacks to the frozen meat industry,
