More Talk of Terrible Secret Weapon
Received Tuesday, 8.50 p.m. LONDON. March 21. The British fleet would be imperilled if radio-controlled projectiles were per fected, said John Hays Hammond, in-ternationally-known inventor, who holds patents for radio-controlled bombs similar to the German type. He expressed the opinion that the Germans so far were only practising with projectiles whose full force would be felt later. Mr. Hammond added that the next phase of the war could be glider bomba against the combined Allied fleets and the only shipping safe if the Germans perfected this type of warfare would be those able to stay out of reach. The Associated Press’s London correspondent says a British official described Hammond’s prediction as “visionary and exaggerated out of all proportion. * ’
