A highly successful dance, which had been organised by St. Patrick’s parish, was held in the George Street ballroom on the evening of St. Patrick’s’ Pay. Dancing took place to the strains of two orchestras which played continuous music, the programme being in the capable hands of Mr. Howard York as M.C. The scene was a gay one and much merriment was caused by the lancers number, which was danced with gusto despite the warmth of the evening. An Irish jig performed by four women to the piping of Mr. G. Pilcher was much appreciated. The supper tables wore brightly decorated with dahlias and asters in autumn tonings.
