Sombre Dressing at Awapuni

Despite unfavourable -weather condi lions there was a goodly representation of the womenfolk at Awapuni on Saturday for the autumn meeting of the Manawatu Racing Club to enjoy a most excellent day's sport. The scene on the lawns was somewhat sombre as tailored suits and tailored felts or berets were the most favoured wear with a few bright umbrellas and raincoats to provide a little colour. Jacobs, held out the friendly hand to many visitors and in the absence of Mrs. Jacobs had the assistance of Mesdames H. R. Cooper and L. B. Wall as hostesses at buffet lunch and afternoon tea, which provided cheery interludes. Among those present were Mesdames Hunter Will, L. M. Abraham, J. Knight, W. 11. Hall, Warner Knight, M. 11.
