Support for International Control of Airways

Received Monday, 9.45 p.m. CANBERRA, March 20. Australia is becoming increasingly confident of powerful support for the proposal advanced in the Australia-New Zealand agreement that the world’s trunk airlines should be controlled and operated by an international body. “I notice increased agreement with that point in the pact, ’ ’ Mr. Curtin said to-day. He made a simultaneous announcement that he had conferred with the chairman of the British Overseas Airways Corporation (Lord Knollys). He said they had had “an exchange of views. ’ ’ Mr. Curtin was informed to-day by the Canadian High Commissioner (Mr. Justice Davis) that Canada has decided to support the AustralianNew Zealand proposal for international air control. The Australian Government, is believed to be hopeful for wider Dominion support following the conference of Empire Prime Ministers.
