Fines and Penalties
Mr. H. P. Lawry, S.M., presided at a sitting of the Magistrate's Court in Palmerston North yesterday. Walter Edward Pino was fined £25 with 10s costs for carrying on the business of a bookmaker. For selling liquor after hours, F. £erbish (Ashhurst) was fined £ls with 10s costs. Ivy A. Gerbish was fined £lO with 10s costs for supplying after hours. Nine men were each fined £2 with costs for consuming liquor on licensed premises after hours. A tenth defendant with a previous conviction was fined £3 with costs. On a charge of being found on licensed premises after hours, another defendant was fined £1 with 11s costs. A. cyclist riding at night without a was lined £1 jritit 12s coste.
