Farewell to Mrs. Carrad
1 Mrs. C. S. Carrad has been a diligent member of the Pahiatua Patriotic En- ’ tertainers and on the eve of her depar--1 turo from the town, slio was accorded a farewell. An cnjoyablo evening was • spent in dancing and games inter- • spersed with vocal items and a com • munity sing. Eongs were rendered by 1 Mrs. Zillwood, Miss J. Trim, Messrs K. ' Montgomery and J. Husband. Mrs. W. 1 A. Carthew and Mrs. Tait were the ac- } coinpanists and the latter played dance • J music. Prior to the serving of supper, 1 Mr. A. G. Hogg (chairman of the bn--5 tertainers) asked Mrs. Carrad to accept 1 a gift. A small presentation was also i made to Mr. Carrad. Mrs. Hogg prec sonted a posy to Mrs. Carrad and a . buttonkolo to Mr. Carrad. Air. Hogg paid a tribute to Airs. Carrad’s energetic work with the organisation and said ho could not Jet the occasion pass without some mention ot : Air. Carrad, with whom he had come into contact in his work. Air. .1. Judd, as chairman of the Patriotic Society, offered his thanks to Mrs. Carrad as a worker in tho leading patriotic organisation in t tho town—an organisation which had raised thousands of pounds, and in a which the women folk worked particu- ', larly hard. He also paid a tributo to s Air. Carrad and hoped they would bo y spared for many years. Air. A. \V. e liissct also spoke and wished the a guests good luck, good health, a prosperous future at Napier and a rest well s earned. The guests were accorded musical honours and both expressed i- their gratitudo to the Entertainers for t a happy evening and tho tokens ol o esteem presented to them.
