Rabaul a “Holiday Resort” For Jap Airmen!
Received Wednesday, 9.50 p.m. NEW YORK, March 15. Allied bombers have converted Rabaul (New Britain) into a holiday resort —according to Tokio. “Rabaul is still what it was,” said the radio. “Japanese military officers and correspondents are struck by Rabaul’s im-i pregnability. Our airmen and ground troops are shooting down all kinds of enemy raiders daily with the greatest of ease. Our airmen are enjoying baseball, pingpong, lovely graceful tennis, music and reading and are also spending their time tending to nice little vegetable and garden plots.” (In the past week Rabaul has been hit with more than GOO tons of bombs with severe damage to aerodromes, port and supply installations and to shipping. Only in the latest attack has there been any Japanese fighter opposition.)
