Returned Soldiers and Land Agents
(Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, March 15. In the House to-day Mr. Hodgens (Palmerston North) gave notice to ask the Prime Minister the following question: “Owing to the refusal of certain land and estate agents to cooperate with the Government in its desire to acquire individual freehold farming property for discharged overseas servicemen, such property being on the market for any civilian purchaser, will the Minister urrungo for a list of competent and willing established land and estate ageut6 to act in each city oi borough, or alternatively will the Minister issue instructions to the State Advances Department to have a list compiled of all such farms offering, thereby enabling discharged soldiers to make direct personal contact with the vendors.” Mr. Hodgens in a note to the question said there had been many instances of soldiers being told by agents that they had no desire or intention to do business with soldiers or with the Government.
