The Mayoralty
(To the Editor.) Sir, —As a fairly substantial ratepayer in our city I was exceedingly pleased to learn that Mr. Mansford, our present Mayor, has agreed to a deputation’s request to stand again. I really think, Mr. Editor, that we have a real good Council in power at present, and I for one would like to see the citizens asking them as a body to give the city their services for another term. — I am, etc., RATEPAYER. To further the swimming activities of the children of the Russell Street School aud to provide baths iu a portion of the city which is rapidly developing as a residential area, the men’s and women’s committees, as well as past and present pupils of the school, are making endeavours to raise the necessary money. To augment the fund a monster gala day will be held at the school in the afternoon and evening of Saturday next, March 18. A very attractive programme has been arranged to provide a wide variety of interests for both adults and children. Details are advertised in this issue and in the event of the weather being unsuitable lor outdoor activities the gala will take place in the school.
