; At the annual meeting of the Church of Christ, Levin, Mr. H. Grinstead, of Palmerston North, was thanked for his generous services to the Church and by a unanimous vote was asked to continue as associate minister, j Sir Alfred C. Sergeant D. H. Lockyer, who is reported to have died of wounds, was the son of Mr. and Mrs. H. E. Lockyer, Hereford Street, Palmerston North. He was boru in Mangaweka and received his education at Kangiwahia and Colytou. For some time after leaving school he was a member of the staff of Messrs. Collinson and Sous, and later spent a period in farming at Te Horo. Seventeen mouths before the war broke out he joined the Army, but he did not go overseas till March, 1941, as he was an instructor for some time in the artillery. He was wounded at LI Alamein and served throughout the desort campaigns. He went to Italy with the New Zealand Division, and it was there that he received the wounds to which he succumbed. A brother, Bombardier W. Lockyer, who is still serving in the Middle Last, was on the same gun as Sergeant Lockyer through* ■ out their service. Besides his parents, Sergeant Locnyer is survived by four brothers, Bombardier W. Lockyer (overseas), Private D. Lockyer (now in an N'.Z.E.F. camp), Mr. M. Lockyer (Taumarunui), and James (at school in Palmerston North), and three sister.? Mesdames W. Harris (Wellington) and C. Parlane (Taihape), and Miss M. Lockyer (W.A.A.C.).
