Heavies Battering Coastal Defences

Received Tuesday, 7.20 p.m. LONDON, March 14. Allied aircraft including Fortresses made three attacks on targets in Northern France in daylight yesterday without opposition from enemy aircraft. One small force of Mosquitoes went unescorted. Two Fortresses ana one Mosquito are missing. Halifax bombers on Monday night made another heavy attack on railway targets at Le Mans, states an Air Ministry communique. Mosquitoes attacked Frankfurt and other objectives in Western Germany. Mines were also laid in enemy waters. Two planes are missing. Le Mans is the main French railway junction feeding the Germans in Western France and an important communications centre for operations in Northern France.
