An American’s View of New Zealand
“I’d like to let the people of New Zea- 1 land know how swell we think they are for the way they have treated us Americans while wo have been on leave in tins country. I know what I’d like to say but just can't put it down in a letter.” So spoke P/O Andy Hill, who has been recalled to service while spending a holiday in Woodville. Petty Officer Hill said that to come from life in the Pacific Islands to the hospitality of the New Zealanders, was something he would always remember. “We think your people arc great and so is your country. I’m not kidding either,” he declared. A quiet but cheerful personality, Andy preferred the life of the country to the rush of the larger centres. He thought life in New Zealand country districts was much the same as in the States taking it by and large.
