£5,000,000 War Loan Closes on Saturday

(Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, March 13. Intention to close next Saturday (March IS) the current war loan of £5,000,000 which has been open for subscription since October last, was announced to-night by Hon. D. G. Sullivan. This loan, said the Minister, was part of the Budget programme for war Jinance for the current financial year and was supplementary to the main loan of £35,000,000. The £5,000,000 loan has been on an “over the counter” basis, thus supplying a continuous form of investment. The amount required was almost in sight and it was hoped that before closing date the full amount of £5,000,000 would have been received. >So that tho avenue of investment for war purposes would be open continuously a system of “advance subscriptions for the next war loan would be reinstated. Investments in the (furrent issue up to the end of this week and in “advance subscriptions’ * as from Monday next could be made at any money order office, any trading bank and at the district Treasury offices in Auckland, Christchurch, "Dunedin or direct with the Reserve Bank which is handling both issues on behalf of the Government.
