Marriage Serious War Casualty in Australia
Received Sunday, 7 p.m. CANBERRA, March 12. Marriage is one of Australia’s most serious war casualties and the number of divorces has shown a steady increase since the outbreak of war. Figures compiled by the Commonwealth Statistician show that the petitions rose from <336 in 1939 to 4470 in 1941. With returns irom only four of the six States I!"Ilab 1 lab T le £? r 194 2 the total is already 4714. In New South Wales divorces granted in 1942 were 1606, fore than doubling the figure for 1939.
