Champion of Champions Bowling
The Manawatu Bowling Centre's champion of champion fours was commenced on Munawatu Club's green on Saturday. The green was perfect and there was a large number of spectators present. First Round Manawatu (Foster, Holder, I-larrison ; Francis, skip) beat Northern (Sinclair, Duncalf, Bewley, Skogiuna, skip) 21—15. H. G. Mills, the skip of the Manawatu i lour, could not get back from a visit to : Taranaki. • Francis (No. 3) tilled the position and Harrison was placed No. 3. Francis put up a line performance in securing such a majority over so skilful and aggressive a player as Skoglund. ; Foxton (Evans, Huff, Grant, Mat.tar) t beat Ilokowhitu (Thomson, Long Han- ; cock, Bailey) 27—20. ! Terrace End (Keay, Johnson, Currie, Gordon) beat Palmerston North (Thomp- ■ son, Colquhoun, Clark, J. H. Nash) IS—lO. The Terraco End team was an extremely ■ well-balanced four and out-bowled its • opponents. There was nothing Gordon : (skip) asked them to do that was not forthcoming. Dannevirke (Holloway, Eaton, Birkin- • shaw, ,J. Carston) won by default from Levin Central (Pine, Hearle, Hudson, Bowater). Owing- to a bereavement Levin could not attend. Second Round Feilding (Hewitt, Morgan, Wenham, Rosonoski) beat Manawatu 21—19. Terraco End beat Foxton 1!) —13. Dannevirke beat Takaro (Spring, Hay- , cock, Hepburn, Hearsay) 32—14. Woodville (Bibby, Lovell, Stanborough, Bly) beat Qroua (Bridge, Benefield, Boswell, Stewart) 21—11. Semi-finals , Dannevirke beat WoodVillc 27—IS. Feilding v. Terrace End.
