Meat Rationing for Children
(Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, March 9. A statement was issued tonight by the Rationing Controller (Mr. J. L. Thomas) regarding meat rationing for children reaching the age of five during this year. Half a sheet of coupons had been issued to every child over six months aud under five years at January 1, Mr. Thomas said, and those children reaching five years after that date would remain on half rations until the next issue of coupons in October. The dividing line between half and full meat rations was not the fifth birthday but might be anywhere between five and six years of age. The position was a little different in regard to children attaining the ago of six mouths. When this was reached parents should surrender their supplementary ration book for a child’s ration book containing coupons for sugar and butter, and half coupons for meat. The ago bar was for administrative convenience and applied to tea coupons. When tho child reached ten years of age tho coupons were not available until the commencement ot next rationing period.
