Reading for Men Overseas
* Letters which are received from over- “ seas, both from the Pacific aud from j .he Middle East, have long stressed the problem of providing interests for our . soldiers and airmen in their leisure t time. The best weapon for combating 5 boredom is reading. Books and maga- * zines have been sent from New Zealand r in largo numbers, but thousands more J are wanted. In particular, more paper books, Penguins, Pelicans, White Circle t novels, and similar series have been - asked for overseas. Tho Country I Library Service, as the agent of the a National Patriotic Fund Board, is making an urgent appeal for books of this kind through the schools. It is d hoped that every household will make a Ll _ special effort to give one or two paper books. All that is necessary is to ask a ft school child to take the books to school.
