Apiti
(From Our Own Correspondent.) Mrs. C. McKenzie and family and her mother, Mrs. Kearney, have been holidaying at Foxton beach. Mr. and Mrs. C. Pepperell left Apiti at the week-end after a year’s residence here, and their friends will wish them well in their new home at New Plymouth. Mr. and Mrs. Ormond, of Palmerston North, have now taken over the Apiti Hotel. The recent rainfall has been most welcome and crops, pastures and gardens will benefit greatly. Mushroom-pickers have been busy, although as yet the fungus does not appear to be too plentiful in the district. The rain has also increased the water supply to the school baths and it is now hoped that the children will be able to have their swimming -'xhibition and sports on Thursday. Mrs. Alf. Prince and her daughters entertained about 40 relatives and friends recently at their home at a welcome home party to Mr. and Mrs. Prince’s nephew, Sgt. Bob Prince, who recently returned home on furlough from over four years’ service in the Middle East. Messrs. J. D. Kilgour and S. J. Martin have conducted services in the Presbyterian Church for the past two Sundays. Sgt. R. Watkins and Mrs. Watkins, of Wellington, are spending leave with Mr. and Mrs. Watkins.
