German Rocket Guns in Action

AGAINST DARING BRITISH NAVAL RAID. Received Wednesday 7.25 p.m. LONDON, March 7. Germany’s second front rocket defences opened up for the first time early this morning when the Navy’s light coastal forces in their most daring rain of the war penetrated within a short distance of ljmuiden harbour, the Eboat headquarters oil the Dutch coast, says the Daily Express’s naval correspondent. Our boats returned with the first information that the Atlantic Wall coastal batteries include shortrange rocket and cannon guns as defences against our invasion craft. Light forces of the Royal Navy sailea right under the German guns off the coast of Holland and engaged a coast defence ship, eight or nine R-boats, ana four trawlers. The engagement was sharp and short. Our ships got hits on a coast defence vessel, a trawler, ana an R-boat, all three bursting into flames. As our ships disengaged the German shore batteries opened up, but without result. Two heavy explosions were heard in the direction of a harbour flotilla and they made contact with two small supply ships escorted by R-boats and a torpedo hit and blew up one supply ship. The German batteries again opened up, but our ships made port and there were few casualties. ,
