WELLINGTON, Alarcli 8. Commenting on the statement made in Auckland by Air. W. A. Leggett, representing the Alanpower Office, that there had been a radical change in re gard to the direction of manpower, with first priority for primary production, the Controller of Manpower (Air. H. L. Bockett) stated that there is no new radical development in connection w r ith the supply of manpower to New Zealand’s primary industries.” "Over a considerable period the Industrial Manpower Division of the National Service Department has treated the provision of labour for primary production as a high priority requirement and the present policy is no more than a continuation of the previous policy in the supply of manpower to tlie primary industries.” A Press Association message from Auckland stated: An announcement that there had been a radical change in regard to the direction of manpower was made by Air. W. A. Leggett, representing the Alanpower Officer, in an appeal case heard by the Auckland Industrial Alanpower Committee this morning. The Government, said Air. Leggett, had declared that primary production should have first priority and everything that would encourage such production must be done.
