One of Decisive Campaigns Of War
“BIRTH CONTROL” AGAINST LUFTWAFFE. NEW YORK, March 7. “The daylong and nightlong aerial campaign against the heart of Germany has started,” says the New York Times’ London correspondent. “The period of air raids has passed; cautious daylight battles on the fringe of Germany are passing; the Allied air army has begun its campaign of attrition against the Luftwaffe which must be recognised as one of the decisive military campaigns of the war.” “The attack against Berlin yesterday is only the beginning,” one high officer said. “There are two ways oi destroying German fighter planes. Yon can murder them in the air or use what we call the ‘birth control* method, bombing them in the factories before they can fly. We are using both methods.’ ’ American airmen who flew over Berlin yesterday were genuinely awed by the complete R.A.F. destruction of the centre of the capital, the correspondent says. The American attack was the direct responsibility of 214,000 thousand men who share the burden of the mounting assault at British airfields and fighting the battle over Berlin.
