Balkan Satellites Closely Watching Finland
WHO WILL BE OUT OF WAR FIRST? Received Monday, 7.55 p.m. LONDON, March 5. Rumanian, Hungarian and Bulgarian diplomats in Scandinavia are closely following the Russo-Finnish situation, says the British United Press’s Stockholm correspondent. Swedish newspapers are giving considerable promiuence to reports that all three countries are trying to leave the Axis. The Ailehanda says: “If the Russo-Finnish negotiations are successful one can expect a race among Rumania, Hungary and Bulgaria to be the next out of the war.” The Daily Telegraph’s diplomatic correspondent says a report from a Swiss source stated that the Bulgarians have communicated to Moscow certain suggestions about the terms whereon they would be ready to negotiate with the Allies. There is no official confirmation of this in London. Russia, which is not warring with Bulgaria, enjoys an increasing influence in Sofia and is likely to be the first recipient of any definite form of peace offer for transmission to Britain and America.
