Both Feet Amputated

(Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, March 6. The wounding of Major-General H. K. Kippenberger, D. 5.0., commander of the Second New Zealand Division, was announced to-night by Mr. Fraser. ‘I very much regret to state,” said Mr. Fraser, “that advice has been received from General Freyberg that Major-General Kippenberger has been severely wounded in action in Italy. Both his icet have had to be amputated, hut his general condition is reported as good. “I have conveyed both to-Major-General Kippenberger and his wife, a message of sympathy and good wishes on behalf of myself and other members of the Government and tho War Cabinet, and I feel sure that these feelings will be shared by their numerous friends both overseas and in New Zealand. “Major-General Kippenberger has rendered outstanding service with the Second N.Z.E.F. He had only recently taken command of the New Zealand Division following upon the appointment of General Freyberg as a corps commander. All ranks of the Division, with whom he is most popular and who fully appreciate his great ability, as well as the people of New Zealand generally, will earnestly hope for his early recovery,” concluded Mr. Fraser.
