Sunflower 11 feet High
A sunflower grown by Mr. \H. it. Giles, of Ohope, YVhakatane, lias attained lift. 4in. in height. The stalk has a circumference of 7iu. The diameter of the largest bloom is 20in., while the circumference is 4ft. 9in. Two Girls Before Magistrate Two girls, aged 1(5 and 14i years respectively, appeared before Mr. it. I*. Lawry, 8.M., in the Palmerston North Children's Court yesterday. The younger, who was an absconder from the Paulina Home, was remanded to Wellington. The elder, who was charged with being idle and disorderly, said she did not want to communicate with her parents. She was also sent to \\ ellington to. be dealt with.
Reservoir Tull Again Bains which have fallen on the hills have filled the Tiritea reservoir again. Yesterday morning the level was only inches bejow the spillway. Butterflies Prom Pacific An. Aucklander who lias offered to place his services at the disposal of airmen who have collections of butterflies secured in the tropics is Captain E. J. Cullen, of Sandringham, an entomologist. Several New Zealand airmen had brought back collections of butterflies from the islands, and Captain Cullen has said that it would give him pleasure to assist, gratis, in fixing up and “setting” these insects properly for exhibition.
