Manawatu Cricket Results

The Manawatu cricket competitions were continued on Saturday in bleak ami breezy weather and the wickets were easier than for some considerable time. Detailed results are as under:— Senior Competition. Ohakea, with five down for 134, beat Ordnance but they did not have much time in hand when Delamore, who made 108, hit the winning runs with a six to leg. Ordnance made 149, the run-getters being Mabey 51, Chadwick 21 not out, Donaldson 18, M. A. Ongley 14, and Pegden 13. Brookes took seven wickets for 64. For Ohakea Delamore, after a life early, scored steadily. When he was 98 he hit one hard to deep square leg who failed to hold the catch. The ball went over the boundary to give the batsman his century. Next one, clean over, gave ojjakea the winning margin. Ivia Toa with a score of 394 easily accounted for Linton who were all out for 56. For Kia Toa the principal scorers were Gough 47, Ormond 46, Campbell 3i and Mullins 26. Burley took two wickets for 24. Burley did best for Linton with a well-played 23. Mullins took 4 wickets for 4 and Shailer 4 for 26. Junior Competition. Transport 149 scored a first innings victory against Ordnance 55 and 4 for 72. Dougan and Fitzmauriee did the damage in Ordnance’s first innings, the former taking 6 for 23 and the latter 4 for 30. Turner 37 not out, and Broughton 22 did best in Ordnance’s second visit to the wickets. For Transport Quick fall 30, FitzniauriCe 26 and Dougan 24 did best with the bat. Against the side Wackrow 3 for 12 and Turner 3 for 44 were the most successful bowlers. Marist beat High School by 50 runs in a one innings game. School made 129 with Hamblyn 27, Brougham 22 and Lockyer 20 batting well against the bowling of O'Connell 6 for 30 and Hood 3 for 40.
