The communique states that on Monday night our forces in tne northern sector carried out successful raids and captured a number of prisoners, while in the south between Ei Hameimat and Ruweisat Ridge they fought tne enemy. Overhead at dusk on Monday night bombers of the R.A.F., S.A.A.F., the United States and naval air forces carried out successful attacks in the battle area and in spite of rising sand intensively bombed enemy concentrations, while long-range bombers attacked convoys approaching the battle area from Sidi Barrani. The tobacco industry is one of the most important in the world, and its importance is constantly increasing. It is computed that there are 500 different kinds of tobacco grown within the British Empire alone I Of course the quality varies immensely, but it may be said without fear of contradiction that of all these tobaccos there are none that surpass in purity and fragrance those grown and manufactured in New Zealand by the National Tobacco Co., Ltd., (pioneers of the tobacco industry in the Dominion). Their outstanding merit is largely due to the fact that they are toasted. This process rids them of the poisonous nicotine and renders them perfectly innocuous, a point the doctors (heavy smokers as a rule) have not been slow to recognise. In fact many of them smoke National brands exclusively. Popular lines: “Riverhead Gold,” “Desert Gold,” “Pocket Edition” (mild); and “Navy Cut No. 3” (medium); and “Cut Plug No. 10” (full strength). These tobaccos are on snle by tobacconists everywhere, and also at many grocers and general stores.
