Ruthless Reorganisation of Industries

The War Cabinet has decided on more drastic steps to obtain another 219,0u0 men and women for war and civil needs oefore the end of the year, says tne Daiiy Telegraph. The latest review indicates that the Government's estimate in May that it would require 318,00 u more men ana women for war worn must be in creased by another 60,000. The official view is that unless the re organisation of civil inuustries is c&rrieu out with the greatest energy uuu aetei mination tnere wni be a serious deficiency of manpower at tne end of tne year, a sub-committee of tne Vvar Cabinet presented a report wherein it states: "To meet the estimated requirements oi 139,000 men and 80,000 women u would bt. necessary to take a senes of measures which in their scope and severity trail-, scended anytning previously contemplated. Many women offering for wa l work are reported to be unwilling to accept, what they are offered but try t> pick the best-paid positions.
