Stanway
(From Our Own Correspondent.) Private Reg Humphreys, who has been spending leave with his parents Mr. and. Mrs. W. Humphreys has returned to camp. Mr J. Parsons of Wellington spent the week-end with his mother Mrs Parsons. Mr P. Bryers has entered an Air Force training camp and Mrs. Bryers and family have left to reside in Raetihi. Irene and Lyra Christian, Joy Craiuo and Beth Shannon, Solway College, are spending the term holidays with their parents. Betty Macfarlane, New Plymouth Girls’ High School, Noelene James, Wanganui Girls’ College and Joan Short, Queen Margarets’ College, are also holidaying with their parents. Mrs N. Awadio and her small daughter, Martinborough, are staying with the formers parents Mr and Mrs T. Green. Sergeant-Pilot Mingins lias returned to Nelson after spending leave with Mrs J. Parsons. A large number of residents of this and neighbouring districts gathered to honour Private Reg Humphreys. Dancing and euchre were the order of the evening, the winners of the card tournament being Mrs Whitehead and j Mr D. Humphry, the consolation prizes going to Mrs Cockburn and Mr J. Bush. Mr Harvey, on behalf of Stanway residents wished Reg the best of luck and asked him to accept a leather hold-all. Miss J. Rosser presented Mrs W. Humphreys with a shoulder spray. Mrs A. Marshall apologised for the unavoid-
able absence of Mrs V. B. Short president of the Sewing Guild and on behalf of the Guild members asked Reg tc accept a parcel of knitted goods. Mr J, Parsons was M.C. You can take a leaf out of the othe: fellow’s book, provided It’s not his ratior • book. (
