British Destroyers Rain Shells on El Daba

MANY TONS LOBBED IN TARGET AREA. Received Monday, 8.15 p.m. LONDON, Aug. 80. British Destroyers rained shells on tank repair workshops and store dumps at El Daba in the early hours of this inormng, according to an Agency corresponoent aboard a British destroyer in the Eastern Mediterranean. The destroyers’ bombardment of El Daba lasted threequartere of an hour in which many tons of high explosives were accurately lobbed in the target area. The destroyers also sank a torpedo boat. More tnan 50 Italian and German dive-bombers attacked one destroyer while returning to its base. Hundreds of bombs were dropped and the decks were repeatedly machine-gunned. Lven the German shore batteries Joined in the attack which was unparalleled since the assault on the lllustrous.
