144 Terrorists Arrested in France
Received Monday, 8.50 p.m. LONDON, Aug. 31. According to the Vichy radio the police at Nantes discovered “a criminal organisation'’ and arrested 144 members who are alleged to have committed crimes of all kinds. They are all described as Communists and 42 also as Spaniards who established a Popular Front organisation in France after they were sentenced/ to death in Spain. An arms depot was found, also a warehouse containing propaganda. One “terrorist' was killed when he attacked the police.
Many Legionaries travelling to Cler-mont-Ferrand to hear Marshal Petain’s speech were injured when their train was derailed.
