The N.Z. 1 Loan and Mercantile Agency Company report on their Himatangi stock sale as follows:—A large yarding of dairy heifers came forward, included in which were a fair number of inferior sorts. Competition on well grown good quality heifers close to profit was good and values were above the previous sale. Inferior sorts, however, were not in demand and passings* were frequent. A good yarding of fat and store cows met with a ready market and values advanced slightly. Quotations: Best quality springing Jersey heifers close to profit, £lO, £lO 15s, £ll, £ll 10s, £l2 10s, £l3, £l4; later cal vers, £7 10s, £B, £8 15s £0 10s; inferior quality, £4 10s, £5 ss, £6 10s, £7 ss; fat cows and heifers, £5 10s, £G ss, £7, £7 10s; store cows, £2 10s, £3 ss, £4 10s, £5, £5 6s; boner cows, 15s, £l, £1 10s, £2, £2 ss; fat ewes, to 20s 3d; fat hoggets, to 295.
The N.Z. Loan and Mercantile Agency Company report on their Rongotea stock sale as follows:—In the dairy section we yarded approximately 100 head which consisted mainly of springing Jersey heifers, the quality of which was the best seen this season. Campetition was exceptionally keen from the start and values showed a marked increase on other sales. The specially advertised line on behalf of the Cleavey Instate made up to £l7 5s and the line of nine averaged £l4 10s 6d. Dairy cows also changed hands at satisfactory rates. A pen of yearling Jersey heifers realised £4 17s. Fat and store cows were in good supply and values improved on last sale. Several pens of fat ewes and hoggets realised values in keeping with other centres, the advertised line of store 2-th woolly wethers elicited keen competition and realised 26s lid.
