Bride’s Brother as Proxy Groom
LONDON, July 19. An alteration to the British marriage laws to enable servicemen to marry by proxy is expected to be announced soon. The Archbishop of Canterbury is expected to make an announcement shortly regarding the alteration to the law. This follows an extraordinary case in a village near Cambridge in which a brother went through the form of marriage with his sister on behalf of an absent bridegroom.
