Marshall May Command Second Front
(By Telegraph—Preßß Assn.—Copyrijcht.) Received Sunday, 9.50 p.m. NEW YORK, Aug. 29. General Marshall (U.S. Chief of Staff) Is mentioned in dispatches from both Washington and abroad as the probable choice as supreme commander of the United Nations’ second front forces, says the New York Times. The Berlin radio announced that Mr Cnurchill, President Roosevelt and M. Stalin agreed to appoint General Marshall commander-in-chief of the invasion forces. The New York Times’ Washington correspondent says President Roosevelt held an important conference at the White House attended by Admiral Leahy, General Marshall, Admiral King, General Arnold, Mr Donald Nelson and Mr Harry Hopkins. Although no one would comment it is believed they discussed tying production more closely to strategy for victory.
