seriously Hurt in Lift Mishap A Wellington young man named Garnet Porter, aged auuut 20 years, is in the Palmerston xs'orth Hospital as a result of an accident to a goods lift in Palmerston North yesterday morning. When the lift reached tne ground floor, a heavy pulley belonging to the overnead gear became detuened and railing, crashed through tne roof of the iiic. x'orter was nit on the head oy a piece of anglo iron which the pulley dislodged and suffered a fracturea skull, nis condition is serious. Seven other persons in the lift escaped injury. It was resolved alsu to affirm tho sub-oranch’s determination to carry on in spite of the difficulties imposed on it. x'arm Workers’ Wages An agreement haa oeen reached with the New Zealand Workers’ union that as from August 1, 1942, workers on xarms other tnan dairy farms would receive tho same rates of pay as the new rates for workers on aairy xarms, stated tho Dominion secretary of the i.cw Zealand Farmers' Union, Mr. A. P.
