Pacifists Unpopular With Taranaki Ex-soldiers

UGLY SCENE AT STRATFORD Per Press Association. NEW PLYMOUTH, Jan. 5. Two speakers with pacifist Hews caused au ugly scene in a Stratford street to-day, when only police protection saved them from violence. After they had been speaking for some time a number of returned soldiers rushed their position and ejected them, some following along the street to See they did not return. The same two men spoke in a street to-night at New Plymouth, where they were again accorded a hostile reception. Eggs were thrown at them and in the end a section of tho crowd rushed them and forced them to ccaso speaking. There was no violence and the two men decamped. The police took the namo of one of the two men.
