“THE ADVENTURES OF TOM SAWYER” Via the genius of David O. Sclzuick and the magic of technicolour, Mark Twain’s famous characters steps from, tho pages of his immortal story and on to tho screen of tho Cosy Theatre, to-day and to-night, whoro Mr. Selznick’s inspired technicolour production, “The Adventures of Tom Sawyer ’ screens. “The Adventures of Tom Sawyer,” which is released through United Artists, is glorious, thrilling entertainment and to miss it is to miss one of your greatest experiences in a motion picture theatre. It is a triumph of marvellous entertainment and one of the finest things that has ever been done. In black anti white it would be a great picture, fh technicolour it is superb. The subject is one that lends itself to colour and some of the shots are breathtakingly magnificent, especially those where Tom and Becky are lost in the cave. It is said to be the first time a cavern with its stalactites and stalagmites has been shown in natural colour. Moreover, tho pictorial effects of tho quaint settings of the small town antf tho background of the Mississippi against which tho colourful and interesting characters play out their drama, are all heightened by the use of colour. The cast is an impressive one and includes May Robson, who gives one of her finest performances as Aunt Polly; Tommy Kelly as Toni Sawyer; Jackie Moran is the ragged Huckleberry Finn; Becky Thatcher, red hair, blue eyes, freckles and all, is played by Ann Gillis; Walter Brennan is the town derelict, Muff Potter; Victor Jory makes a sinister and menacing Injun Joe; Cora Sue Collins is convincing as Amy Lawrence and David Holt is excellent as Tom’s brother, Sid Sawyer. The first half includes another of the popular “Modern Science” in colour, and patrons are urged to book early.
