Notes of the Day

Air. and Mrs. J. J. Howell, “King’s Court,” Beattie Street, Feilding, have received advice of tho passing of their eldest son, Air. Bertie Howell, aged 43, at his residencse in Pontypridd, near Cardiff, South Wales. His death has closed a long period of suffering which he bore with great fortitude. Ho was a member of the Aierchant Service and in the Great War his ship was torpedoed. He paid a short visit to New Zealand some 20 years ago. The late Mr. Howell leaves a widow' and one son, aged 12 years. There arc also four brothers, Alessrs. F. Howell and J. Howell (Tongaporutu), J. Howell (Napier) and T. Howell (Wales). Much sympathy will be extended to Air. and Mrs. Howell in their bereavement.
